2013 Field Test Opt Out Toolkit

After another season of high stakes testing, field testing by Pearson is back again this year. In order to continue to fight this abuse, we need you to opt out your children out of field testing. Pearson and New York State need to hear that enough is enough! To help facilitate this process, we have put together a tool kit containing the items listed below which will help you organize a field test boycott in your school. The testing window starts June 3rd, so organizing for the boycott needs to start now!

School Organizers Checklist

The School Organizers Checklist (link here) is a step by step guide to organizing a field test opt out at your school. Here is a link provided by Change the Stakes to the spreadsheet with the list of Field test assignments for NYC Schools.

Below are links to some important documents that will be used in organizing your school’s opt out:

The Opt Out Letter and Parent Cover Letter

Parent Cover Letter(English and Spanish)

This letter explains to parents what the field test opt out is all about and why it is important to opt out.
